A CHILD OF LOVE
I always knew this day would be
Coming down the tracks
Like an express train
But I always hoped this day
Would be another day
When you would ask questions
Seek for yourself answers
Ask me to speak truths
That I don’t want to say
You say you’ve got the right to know a name
But do you just want someone to blame
Is it not enough to know that you are loved
By one as much as if they were two
Try to understand that you were not just a child of love
But a child of far too much love
And that was too high a price
To ask anyone to ever have to pay
So I kept my silence, and I ran away
Try to understand, there just was no other way
I can see from that look in your eyes
That whatever I say, will never make it go away
That things between us will never again be the same
But what’s the use in giving you a name
Of a man who doesn’t even know that you were born
And you can take that look off your face
I’m not going to feel guilty, live with your scorn
We were a love that should never have happened
He already had a wife and two children
Tell me how could I be the one to take their father away
How could I be the one to make innocents pay
SPOKEN WORDS
So yes, you can say I was wrong, call me a coward
But I did the only thing I could do
I left town and I ran way
Knowing that I would never, never forget
Because I had you, and that was enough for me
That was always enough for me
And I hope that can be enough for you too
That I’ve always loved you enough for two
PAUSE
That I’ve always loved you enough for two
Coming down the tracks
Like an express train
But I always hoped this day
Would be another day
When you would ask questions
Seek for yourself answers
Ask me to speak truths
That I don’t want to say
You say you’ve got the right to know a name
