STILL OLD FRIENDS
Old friends, stand together holding hands
Looking out towards the horizon
Where land, sea and air all meet as one
Laughing together as a gentle sea breeze blows
Around their bodies and through their hair
Reminding them of a time, now so long ago
When they stood there, without a care
When they were more than just friends
Holding hands, looking out to their future
Convinced it was just beyond the horizon line
That they would always get there together with time
Still old friends
Holding hands together
Still old friends
This time no one has to pretend
They had so many plans, so many dreams
Of what they would do together
But they forgot to tell life about them
And life had other plans, so it seems
And now they stand together on the shore
Old friends as they promised each other,
Still old friends now forever more
Looking into each other’s eyes
Some things always stay the same, never age
Speaking no words to one another
But each knowing what the other is thinking
Still old friends
Holding hands together
Still old friends
This time no one has to pretend
If they had their time to take again
Would they do things differently now
Would they make the same mistakes again
Or is fate always destined to tear them apart
Make them walk down different paths in life
A different husband, a different wife
Leaving each alone with only half a heart
Knowing that somewhere, somehow
They would still remain old friends
Meeting where land, sea and air all meet as one
To make old hearts whole again once more
Still old friends
Holding hands together
Still old friends
This time no one has to pretend
Looking out towards the horizon
Where land, sea and air all meet as one
Laughing together as a gentle sea breeze blows
Around their bodies and through their hair
Reminding them of a time, now so long ago
When they stood there, without a care
When they were more than just friends
Holding hands, looking out to their future
Convinced it was just beyond the horizon line
That they would always get there together with time
Still old friends
Holding hands together
Still old friends
This time no one has to pretend

Of what they would do together
But they forgot to tell life about them
And life had other plans, so it seems
And now they stand together on the shore

Still old friends now forever more
Looking into each other’s eyes
